Any type of bag that will cut the use of plastic carrier bags has to be good. I know there are a lot of people out there that knit or crochet, now you can join in too. I have found a few knitting and crochet patterns for shopping bags, if you make one of them please send us a photo of it to put on this page. Some of these patterns are American and I think their needle sizes may be different to ours so you may have to play around with the tension. I am going to have a go, it will make a change from sewing bags.

Knitted Shopping Bag – pretty diagonal pattern
Huge Knitted String Bag – using circular needles
Crochet Beach Bag – could easily be made slightly bigger
